Autumn 2025 musical
CALL FOR DIRECTORS AND CREATIVE TEAMS
Lead a future Phoenix show
We will soon be looking for a creative individual or team to direct our 2025 Autumn musical.
Following successful recent Phoenix shows like The Addams Family, Young Frankenstein, and Urinetown, we’re looking for an exciting big show that will challenge our members and bring in an audience - while restricting ourselves to a modest community production budget.
For more information on what makes for a good Phoenix director and what makes a successful Phoenix show, check out our Run a show FAQs.
All workshops, auditions, and rehearsals will take place at Emmanuel Church Hall.
Our performance venue is St Dunstan’s College. Show week is w/c 19th October 2025, with performances on Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, and Saturday 25th October (TBC).
If you have any other questions about working with Phoenix Players, please get in touch. You can also come watch our next show for a better understanding of the group!

How to apply
Please send an email to committee@phoenixplayers.org.uk by 9 February 2025. You will then be invited to meet the committee to outline your vision for the show.
Your email should include:
The show you’re putting yourself forward to direct
A short bio about yourself and why you want to direct this show
A short summary of your vision – no more than 250 words. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to expand on your thoughts in the follow up chat with the committee.
You can apply as a team or as an individual - if you apply as an individual, the committee will help ensure you have a creative team in place, including a musical director, choreographer, producer and potentially assistant director, as well as further guidance and support.
What musical to pitch
Directors are welcome to pitch shows they are passionate about and should not feel restricted by the committee shortlist - check What makes a good Phoenix show to understand what we’ll be looking for.
The Phoenix Committee has shortlisted two shows which we feel would be particularly good for our members. These are Wind In The Willows and Made In Dagenham.
Wind In The Willows
This riotous comedy follows Mole, Rat, Badger, and Mr. Toad, whose need for speed lands him in serious trouble.
Made in Dagenham
An uplifting and inspiring story about friendship, love, and women’s rights, set in 1960s Essex.
