The town council of Shepardsford are planning a grand banquet and have acquired an unlicensed pig, Betty, to feed their elite guests. Meanwhile cheerful chiropodist Gilbert Chilvers and his wife Joyce scrape by on meagre pickings as Meat Inspector Wormold looks set to close every butcher’s shop in Yorkshire.
